Update on Chaplain Rick Barnes

All the cancer tumors are gone and the cancer had not spread!!!! His taste buds are healing and his sense of taste is improving. There is still some swelling inside his throat. He is still on a feeding tube but can eat some foods by mouth. God has done miracles in his life and treatment for the cancer.  Chaplain Barnes is on the mend but please continue to pray for him.  You may send Chaplain Barnes a message at barnesrick316@yahoo.com.

CISM TRAINING - February 24-25, 2012

We are inviting you to our annual CISM Training.  Individual Crisis Intervention and Peer Support is the coursed offered this year.  Florida Baptist Chaplaincy began offering CISM courses in 2007.  Individual Crisis Intervention and Peer Support was the first course we offered.  Since many Chaplains have joined us since 2007, we decided to offer this basic CISM course again.  For Disaster Relief Chaplains, completing this course will meet the NAMB requirements for DR Chaplains.
 
Critical Incident Stress Management, better known as CISM, is provided by the International Critical Stress Foundation (ICISF).  Their courses are recognized by FEMA, the National Guard, many Sheriff’s Offices and other government agencies as well as the Florida Baptist Convention and NAMB.  Chaplain Ricky Thrasher serves as a national instructor for CISM.  He also serves on the Georgia Baptist Convention staff.  Chaplain Thrasher will be our instructor

We are grateful that the Central Parkway Baptist Church in Orlando has volunteered to serve as our host.  Grant Hignight serves as Pastor as well as Disaster Relief Chaplaincy Coordinator for Region 5.
